Performance Rating

The Radeon HD 8990 OEM was a graphics card by AMD, launched on April 24th, 2013. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the Malta graphics processor, in its Malta XT variant, the card supports DirectX 12. Even though it supports DirectX 12, the feature level is only 11_1, which can be problematic with newer DirectX 12 titles. The Malta graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 365 mm² and 4,313 million transistors. Radeon HD 8990 OEM combines two graphics processors to increase performance. It features 2048 shading units, 128 texture mapping units, and 32 ROPs, per GPU. AMD has paired 6 GB GDDR5 memory with the Radeon HD 8990 OEM, which are connected using a 384-bit memory interface per GPU (each GPU manages 3,072 MB). The GPU is operating at a frequency of 950 MHz, which can be boosted up to 1000 MHz, memory is running at 1500 MHz (6 Gbps effective).
